Doctor spoke about the danger of self-isolation for pensioners
Elderly people who move little during self-isolation due to coronavirus can become sedentary and lay sick, Israeli doctor Leonid Eidelman said. According to him, stress, overeating and slow-moving lifestyle threaten elderly people to exacerbate chronic diseases. Eidelman also noted that pensioners began to avoid visiting polyclinics, which threatens to deteriorate the state of health. Elderly people who are isolated today and move little can turn into sedentary or even lying patients who will not be able to restore their physical activity after isolation, quotes the doctor RIA Novosti. According to the news agency, as of April 4, 4,732 cases of coronavirus infection were registered in Russia, 43 people died. Most of the patients who died were elderly people with concomitant chronic diseases. Earlier, the chief doctor of the hospital in Communark, Denis Procenko, said that he was surprised by the age of the first patients with COVID-19 pneumonia admitted for treatment, they were much younger than the doctors assumed.
