TSMC has released more than a billion 7-nm chips

Taiwan-based TSMC has produced more than a billion chips using a 7nm process. This was reported by the press service of TSMC. The world's largest contract manufacturer of semiconductor chips launched mass production of chips for a 7-nm process in April 2018. At the end of July, a billion 7-nm chip came off the company's production lines. TSMC notes that chips made according to the new process are used in more than 100 electronic devices from several dozen manufacturers. These chips are used not only in personal computers, tablets and smartphones, but also in automotive computer systems and data centers. An important achievement for the company was that the introduction of 7-nm technology happened faster than when moving to previous technological processes. The company also announced the launch of the first lines for the mass production of 6-nm chips. As previously reported by the news agency, in July TSMC submitted a financial report for the second quarter of 2020. The company's revenue for this period amounted to about $4.1 billion, which is the largest figure since the first quarter of 2014.
