System launched in Russia allowing to find 99% of missing children


The system of interaction between Russian law enforcement agencies, rescue services and members of the public, created to search for missing children, has shown its effectiveness in practice, the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported on May 25. In the first quarter of 2020, the number of minors reported missing in the Russian Federation amounted to 3,629, of whom 3,576 were found, which is 98.6%, the report reads. It is noted that in 2019 investigators received almost 15 thousand applications related to the disappearance of children. Their work allowed to find 93.7% of children alive in the first ten days, another 941 children are wanted. By the end of the year, 854 children had been found. Thus, according to the results of last year 74 children remained in search, and the total efficiency of search for minors amounted to 99.5%. Add, 25 May marks the International Day of Missing Children. It was established in 2010 at the initiative of the International Centre for the Search for Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC, USA).
