China authorities punish more than 93,000 officials in the first quarter
Disciplinary inspection and oversight agencies across China punished about 93,000 officials in the first quarter of the year, including 10 provincial and ministerial levels, Xinhua news agency reported on April 25. In addition to the ten officials mentioned, another 690 district-level officials and about 4,000 county-level officials were punished within the specified period, according to the data published on the website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the People's Republic of China and the National Supervisory Commission. According to the news agency, the former Vice Governor of Henan Province was charged with receiving large-scale bribes in the form of money or expensive gifts.
